Mike Brown

Mike officially began his career in surveying in 2002, though his interest began in high school where he spent summers working under a licensed surveyor.  In 2002, Mike started his career as a surveyor for Kiewit Construction, one of the 5 largest construction companies in the United States.  Three years later in 2005, Mike took on a role with more responsibility at Ames Construction, one of the top 50 construction companies in the United States.  Though it was early in his career, Mike’s experience expanded tremendously as he worked on numerous projects in excess of $100 Million, all over the country, across more than 10 different states throughout the Midwest.  Mike is an industry expert in surveying, specializing in highway and railroad bridges, having surveyed more than 1,000 different bridges across all industries.  His surveying experience in the industry is unmatched, making him an incredibly valuable asset to any company.

In 2013, Mike took on a role for Sitech, a Trimble and Caterpillar distributor for heavy civil construction in Kansas and Northwestern Missouri.  It was in this role that Mike became one of the foremost experts in Trimble GPS and total station support. His customers included some of the largest contractors in and around the Kansas City Metro such as Hamm, Bettis, Kings Construction, Rademacher Brothers Excavating, Rodriguez Underground Construction, Kissick Construction, and Kiewit just to name a few.  Combined with his traditional surveying experience, his understanding of cutting-edge survey technology expands his value even further.

In 2018 Mike was hired on to Bettis Asphalt as their survey manager.  It was here that he was tasked with creating and managing their entire survey division, bringing the company up to speed on technology and helping make it one of the most notable highway contractors in northeastern Kansas. Shortly after, Mike was hired on to a competitor, R.D. Johnson Construction, where he again created and managed the survey division.  Mike remains in this role today.

For M&P Surveys, Mike does it all.  As a private pilot, his understanding of the UAS Systems and regulations are second nature. Combined with his background in machine control, Mike is one of the industry leaders in surveying technology and applying to a variety of industries across numerous states.   Mike is a certified Carlson modeler, a certified Trimble trainer, and is proficient in Leica, Topcon, Trimble, and Carlson software.

Paul Johnson

Paul began his surveying career in 2004 as a Surveyor for Hamm Inc, a $40 Million Revenue construction and aggregates company.  During that time Paul apprenticed for 5 years under a Professional Land Surveyor with more than 45 years of surveying experience. Upon his mentor’s retirement, Paul was selected to lead the entire surveying division at Hamm, spearheading the surveying needs for all construction projects within the company, including jobs in excess of $300 Million.  He is credited with implementing and overhauling the technology of Hamm’s entire construction division, driving profitability and improving project lead times.

Paul is well-known and respected by many in the industry as an expert in the Kansas City Metro when it comes to surveying software, machine control and UAS System technology.  As an official beta tester of Trimble products, his understanding of the GPS machine control and design world, combined with his traditional surveying experience makes him an indispensable asset for any construction or aggregate company.  Upon the sale of Hamm’s Construction Division, Paul was the only employee that was not included in the sale, due to the significant value that he provides the company.

For M&P Surveys, Paul participates in surveying, aerial topography, and 3D Modeling side of the business.  Although he has significant experience in traditional surveying, his abilities are strongest and most valuable on the technology side with machine control, UAS systems, and 3D Modeling on computer programs. Paul is proficient in Leica, Topcon, Trimble, GIS, Pix4D, and Carlson software, and is a fully certified UAV pilot.
